Independence Training
The staff of Meraki HavenCare will work towards positively developing individual qualities, which will give service users an opportunity for personal growth and development. The aim of our semi independence programme is to ensure that as far as possible, service users are prepared for independence.
Aims of Independence Training:
- To provide a safe environment for the service users to learn and enhance their skills and knowledge in preparation for them to live independently.
- To develop the service users awareness about Government systems and community services, so that they can represent themselves as and when necessary.
- To ensure the service user recognises and develops their social skills to enable them to integrate into communities and society as a whole.
- To enhance/develop the service user’s interpersonal skills so that they can make and sustain friendships.
- To enable the service user to acquire knowledge and skills in household maintenance and money management.
- To ensure the service user develops the necessary competencies with regards to employment and further education.
- Educational and training activities.
- Development of basic living skills i.e cooking,cleaning,washing.
- Health and wellness promotion.
- Orientation, mobility, and destination training.
- Access and utilization of public transportation.
- Interacting with volunteers from the community in program activities.
- Understanding and completing forms.
